HISTORY was brought to life as scores of tourists descended on Clitheroe at the weekend for the town's annual festival.
Events included a "Meet The Victorians" event at Clitheroe Castle Museum and a re-enactment of a battle between Normans and Saxons, while a full military camp was reconstructed with weapons and demonstrations.
Visitors were able to get a glimpse of the only operating steam bus, running between Clitheroe Interchange and Bashall Barn, while guided countryside tours on a vintage Bedford bus were running through the town.
Other events included a beer festival, a funfair, a railway exhibition, an American car cavalcade and a concert by Clitheroe Town Band.
American couple Danny and Marie Oldfield, from Washington, visited the event.
Marie, 38, said: "We were staying with friends in Whalley and thought we would pop along.
"The Ribble Valley is a beautiful place. Clitheroe has been buzzing today.
"It's been nice to see so many people out enjoying themselves."
Maureen Fenton, brought history to life dressing in Victorian costume.
Mrs Fenton, whose character lived in Clitheroe Castle in the 20th century, said the weekend had been a great success.
