THE coroner has asked for a health and safety investigation after a grandmother died when she was knocked down by a council bin wagon.
Jean Eastwood, 65, of Eachill Gardens, Rishton, was crossing an alleyway off Harwood Road, Rishton, at around 12.45pm on Monday when she was hit by the Hyndburn Council vehicle which was reversing.
It is believed she stepped into the path of the wagon which had its reversing siren and lights on.
Aty the opening of an inquest coroner Michael Singleton said the Health and Safety Executive needed to be advised with regards to an investigation.
The inquest was adjourned until June 13.
