A TWELVE-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis has raised nearly £1,000 after walking with llamas.

Natasha Harley, of Minster Crescent, Darwen, was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease when she was four and must undergo a gruelling fitness routine every day.

Natasha along with her mum Sue John, 38, stepdad Simon John, 39, and sisters Grace Harley, 10 and Hollie John, two, walked with llamas as part of a worldwide event called Great Strides, which gets people walking to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Cystic fibrosis is caused by a defective gene which means the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, become clogged with mucus resulting in poor digestion and breathing problems.

After taking part in the Walking with Llamas event at Lords House Farm, Rishton, on May 13, friends and family have brought the total funds raised near to the £1,000 mark and they are still collecting.

Sue said: "It was lovely and everybody enjoyed it."
