THE controversial BBC Panorama programme which documented racial tensions in Blackburn will be debated at the Cathedral next week.

The debate asks whether the show, called White Fright', got it right. The programme will be re-screened, and followed by an hour-long discussion.

The programme was seen by some as painting the picture of the problem worse than it really is.

Canon Chris Chivers and Anjum Anwar, who took part in the documentary, said: "We have established a tradition of dialogue and conversation at the Cathedral around difficult and sensitive issues.

"We urge people at every level of the community, but particularly at the grass roots, to come and share their views in an open and safe forum."

The event starts at 6.30pm on Monday.
