A charity ball has raised £30,000 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

BBC broadcaster Sally Naden hosted an auction at the Rose Ball, which was held at Ribby Hall in Lancashire recently.

Sally, who benefited from Rosemere's services when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, sported some specially designed, pink floral 'rose tinted' spectacles, to celebrate the positive outlook the charity gives to hundreds of people each year.

Sally said: "Being diagnosed and going through treatment means you feel like you're walking around under a grey cloud.

"What the staff at Rosemere do is try to provide you with your own pair of rose tinted spectacles.

"They don't fund cancer treatments, but what they do fund are those extras that take away the fear and help you to see through your treatment with dignity and courage."

Organised by HSBC's female commercial managers who chose the charity for the support it had given to their loved ones, the event attracted over 40 donations to the auction from local businesses and celebrities.

The team were hoping to raise £10,000 on the night and were stunned when the final total reached £15,000.

It will be matched by HSBC's charity 'Pound for Pound' scheme to donate a grand total of £30,000 to the foundation.

Bernie Andrews, Area Director for HSBC added: "The ladies have surpassed all my expectations, it truly was a night to remember.

"Last year HSBC in Lancashire allocated over £50,000 to local good causes and gave over 800 hours of volunteering time.

"As an Area Director, I believe charity support is one of the most effective means to build team spirit so we'll definitely be doing more before the year is out.

"Seeing people pull together to make this event happen has been really exciting and I was delighted to present the final cheque to Rosemere.

"That's one of the real highlights of my job!"
