SHOPPERS will have improved access to stores in Bacup thanks to a taxi rank which is up and running.
The rank at Lumb Scar at the bottom of South Street, has been introduced to improve town congestion in and make parking easier.
Buses in Bacup will now use what was previously the St James Street taxi rank.
The changes will make it easier for people to visit local shops.
In Rawtenstall, taxis are encouraged to use the Kay Street rank.
Tracy Brzozowski, Rossendale Council's licensing manager, said: "We hope drivers in Bacup and Rawtenstall will use the designated ranks.
"Once taxis start to use these ranks the people who use taxis will know the best place to go for one.
"We will be discussing the issue of signage for these ranks with Lancashire Country Council."
