A SUSPECTED machete attack in Darwen has left a man with serious injuries.
Detectives say the alleged attack is thought to have been sparked after a row between the 20-year-old victim and another man.
Police and paramedics were called to Entwistle Street at around 11pm.
The victim, who has not been named by police, suffered injuries to the top of his head and to his face.
However police say the most serious injury was caused to his arm as he tried to defend himself.
He is now awaiting surgery at Royal Blackburn Hospital where he is said to in a "stable" condition.
His injuries were not though to be life threatening Det Sgt Ian Geogarty said: "The two men were known to one another. There had been an altercation prior to the attack. We are not100 per cent sure what had been used as no weapon has been recovered.
l A 20-year-old man from Darwen has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
He was due to be quizzed by detectives yesterday.
