AN Accrington club has hit the heights again by claiming a prestigious award.

Sydney Street Working Men's Club was named Club of the Year by the East Lancs Branch of the Campaign For Real Ale.

The is the fourth time the club has received this award which is for the consistent quality of the beer it sells.

Previously the club has received the award in 2002, 2003, 2004.

Club secretary Brain McGowan said that staff and customers at the club were delighted by the recognition and that much of the success was down to John Freeman, who ensured the beer was in great condition.

Mr McGowan said: "This is a brilliant award to win and a lot of it is down to John Freeman.

"He has some really good cask beers on as well as John Smiths.

"All the beer is in excellent condition and you know you are always guaranteed a great pint."
