A COUPLE held an open air garden party to raise money for charity.
Over 130 people crammed into Sue Ireland and Steve Byrne's back garden in Talbot Road, Accrington, for the Bank Holiday Cancer Research event.
Competitions including guess how many peas are in the jar', a raffle and an auction, which included prizes donated by local businesses, were held.
Auction prizes included free fish and chips and taxi rides for a year.
Local groups performed and a disco carried on into the night.
The couple held the event in memory of Sue's mother and father, Nellie and Ronnie Nash, who both died of cancer aged 64 and 66.
The event took five months to plan. Local business King of Bouncy Castles supplied an inflatable for youngsters.
Steve said: "It has been hard work but we didn't believe we would receive so much support from the community.
"Thanks to everybody who supported us."
