A PANORAMA documentary claiming racial segregation in Blackburn is giving the town an identity crisis will be aired tonight.
The controversial BBC programme paints a picture of a divided town, with whites on one side and Asians on the other.
The show compares Asian celebrations of the prophet Mohammed's birthday to white celebrations for St George's Day.
It also follows two taxi drivers, one white and one Asian, as they pick up fares to see if they operate in segregated areas.
It concludes that while the drivers share the town centre, their routes largely stick to their own separate patches in Whalley Range and Mill Hill.
Presenter Vivian White interviews MP Jack Straw on the Muslim veil issue and an estate agent is asked for his views on 'white flight,' the relocation of white residents from certain areas of town.
Canon Chris Chivers, from Blackburn Cathedral, will be shown orchestrating a school twinning session so that pupils from a predominantly white school and a predominantly Asian school can get to know each other.
White Fright is on BBC1 at 8.30pm.
