FRAUD charges against a Blackburn councillor were adjourned by magistrates for a week because of the borough council elections.
The prosecution agreed to a seven-day delay in the case against Coun Arif Waghat, of Shear Brow ward, who is accused of failing to report a change in circumstances, regarding an income support claim, to the agency.
Coun Arif was not standing in the elections yesterday but was acting as agent for a number of Lib Dem candidates in yesterday's polls.
Waghat, of Buncer Lane, will appear to face the allegation again next Thursday at Hyndburn Magistrates Court.
