AN EAST Lancashire sports coach and cricketer is travelling the world growing the sport of dodgeball.
Chris Riley, who works as a PE teacher at St Matthews Primary School, in Blackburn, is jetting off to Australia to train coaches and oversee qualifying for the 2016 Dodgeball World Cup in Manchester.
The trip is as part of the 37-year-old’s role as head of coach development at the World Dodgeball Association and he has only recently returned from a trip to Cameroon, where he helped train 30 new coaches.
Mr Riley, who only took up the sport five years ago, said he is hoping to get dodgeball listed as a trial event at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Mr Riley signposts pupils to out-of-school sports clubs.
He is looking to set up junior dodgeball clubs in the area in the New Year, but needs venues and children to work with. Anybody interested can e-mail mrdodgeball@mail.com.
