A TAXI driver stripped of his licence by the council earlier this year has lost his battle to get it back.
Saeed Nawaz, 36, of Hopwood Street, Accrington, had his joint driver’s licence revoked by councillors sitting on the taxi licensing committee in April.

They had considered a report detailing Mr Nawaz’s “numerous” breaches of regulations, including failure to display the required signs on his taxi, documents revealed.
Hyndburn Council’s solicitor Gordon McMillan said: “Mr Nawaz appealed to the magistrates’ court but on July 16, the court decided the council was correct in finding Mr Nawaz was not a fit and proper person to hold a joint driver’s badge.”
Mr Nawaz was told to pay £250 costs.
