BLACKBURN author Nicolajayne Taylor isn’t scared of success – it’s terrifying readers that’s made her an international hit.

The 33-year-old, from Cherry Tree, has just released her new novel Call of the Moon, another slice of the gothic erotic horror prose that has won her many fans.

Nicolajayne, who goes by the name Enjay, signed a three-year deal with US independent publishing giant Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly last year.

And after impressing with her debut, The Curse of Mary, she’s featured in the top 40 list for retail giants Amazon and has two more book in the pipeline.

She said: “My mother was a very enthusiastic reader, especially of fantasy works, and she always supported my writing.

“When she died last year, as part of the recovery process I locked myself away from the world and started writing The Curse of Mary .”

Luckily, she linked up with fellow author Carmilla Voiez, who asked to contribute to her anthology Bloody Sexy – and the rest is history.

Blackburn, particularly the Pleasington and Griffins areas, features heavily in The Curse of Mary, which is based on an urban legend.

And with two more novels in the pipeline, including a follow-up to Call of the Moon titled Call of the Night, Nicolajayne has plenty of research to get her teeth into.

The wordsmith, whose novels are mostly suitable an 18s and above, is looking to link up with local history societies to make sure he tales have an authentic air.

She added: “I do lots of research, both on the internet and in the field.

“As for when I write, it’s usually at night .”
