THE annual Hoghton Tower motorcycle sprint took place yesterday in the grounds of the tower.
The sprint, organised and run by Marshals North West on behalf of the ACU North Western Centre, saw classic machines and modern day superbikes sprint the one-eighth of a mile course up the driveway of the attraction.
A number of awards were on offer to the bikes with the fastest times.
The sprint, now in its 27th year, was open to any age or type of motorcycle on two or three wheels and took place at the ancestral seat of the de Hoghton family.
Entertainment included singing in the Great Barn and dancing to an Irish Folk Band, plus a barbecue.
