DETECTIVES have renewed their appeals for information, four weeks after a 16-year-old girl was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

The attack happened at around 4.30am on Sunday March 25 in an alleyway, in the Blakey Moor area of Blackburn.

An investigation is underway and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

DC Martin Hulme said: "We are renewing our appeals to encourage people who were in the area at the time to come forward and speak to us.

"This was a very serious attack which left the victim severely traumatised and I urge anyone with information to contact the police.

"It has been a month since the attack happened and it is important that we identify who was responsible as soon as possible."

One man has been arrested in connection with the offence and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
