PROPOSALS for a takeaway in Colne were thrown out after highways bosses changed their minds.
Lancashire County Council had originally told Pendle Council's Colne and District Committee that it had no problems with plans for a takeaway in Skipton Road, but sent another report just before the meeting to say it now thought increased parking on the road would make it unsafe.
Residents had also objected to the proposal, telling the committee that it would cause noise and litter nuisance, as well as increased traffic problems.
Coun Dorothy Lord said: "You can count half-a-dozen takeaways already around there and in the town centre, and another one would certainly bring the area down."
