A MAN who became addicted to drugs after moving to London is behind bars after dealing crack cocaine to fund his habit.
Shayleem Ullah, 24, of Bury Road, Haslingden, had cocaine with a street value of almost £1,500 on him when searched by police. He admitted he had been selling the drug to friends and contacts.
Burnley Crown Court was told Ullah also had cash on him as well as the drugs, which were between six and seven per cent purity.
The defendant was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, possessing the drug and possessing 34 tablets of ecstasy, in May last year.
Sentencing Ullah, Judge Angela Nield said: "It's important this court sends out a very clear message of deterrent when dealing with offences of this nature."
Ullah will face a proceeds of crime hearing over money he said to have made from drug dealing on June 15.
