PUPILS from a Darwen primary school watched as their time capsule was buried on an old mill site in the town.
Year one children from Holy Trinity Primary School, Bank Top, laid the capsule at the site in Bolton Road where a housing development is being built in Belgrave Heights.
Bernadette Mullarkey, a year one teacher, said: "The children were really excited at the prospect of making their own time capsule and spent the days before the event making letters, cards, and thinking of things to put into the project.
"The pupils have been following the progress of the Belgrave Heights development, from the knocking down of the old mill to the build of the new homes, and are really impressed with how it has changed their home town."
Workers from the McInerney development buried the capsule as children looked on.
Greg Johnson, McInerney Homes' north regional sales and marketing manager, said: "Hopefully it will inspire some of the children to think of a career in the home building industry and how it can make a positive impact on their local community."
