THE owner of a taxi firm was assaulted when he went to remonstrate with a drunken customer who was causing trouble in the office.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Daniel James Caddens had been out celebrating his 18th birthday which was the following day and could remember little of the incident.

Caddens, 18, of Lindley Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault on Tariq Younas.

He was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work, pay £100 compensation and made subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew order for 14 days.

Anser Amin, defending, said the offence was committed while Caddens was in drink.
