BLACKBURN Gilbert and Sullivan Society is on the look out for new members.
Good singing voices are welcome, but there are many other roles available.
Members are preparing for an informal sing-through of Pirates of Penzance, which they will be staging in February next year.
Says Chairman, Craig Fletcher: "Blackburn Gilbert and Sullivan Society is very excited to be performing The Pirates of Penzance as our 52nd show. We are hoping to welcome many new members to the society this year as The Pirates of Penzance is Gilbert and Sullivan's best known operetta, and promises to be a fantastic show."
The sing-through will be held in the bar of the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn, on Tuesday, June 30 at 7:30pm. There will be a buffet/bar and everyone is welcome.
The first rehearsal will beTuesday, September 8, in the Berry Room at the theatre. The dates of the show have been confirmed as Wed-Sat, February 24-27.
Parts available include: Major-General Stanley (Comic Baritone); The Pirate King (Bass-Baritone); Samuel, his Lieutenant (Baritone); Frederic, the Pirate Apprentice (Tenor); Sergeant of Police (Bass); Ruth, a Piratical Maid (Contralto); General Stanley's daughters - Mabel (Soprano), Edith (Mezzo-Soprano), Kate (Mezzo-Soprano), Isabel (Speaking Role); Chorus of Pirates, police and General Stanley's daughters.
