Twenty five firefighters spent two-and-a-half hours extinguishing the blaze from 6.30pm last night.
The fire covered one-and-a-half square kilometres at its peak.
Fire crews were also called to a large grass fire in Pickup Bank, Darwen.
It is not known how the fire started but it spread over a one kilometre square area.
The fire took 10 firefighters one-and-a-half hours to extinguish.
