A SCHOOL raised £700 for Comic Relief in aid of a trek which conqu-ered three of the highest mountains in Africa Pictured above, student Kelly Gill, of Hargher Clough School handed over the £700 cheque to trek team leader 35-year-old Steve Perry, an engineer from Todmorden.
The school raised the money through an auction, the sale of tapestries by a Ugandan teacher and other events.
The four explorers, who completed the fundraising mission on March 10 after climbing Margherita, Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro, have raised a total of £5,000.
Andrew Wilkinson, a 30-year-old builder also from Todmorden, Lorraine McCall from Scotland and 32-year-old Dan Bailey, a sports writer, made up the quartet.
Steve said: "It's unbelievable. They were hoping to raise £100 but ended up raising £700."
