A BURNLEY man whose mum is suffering from breast cancer had his head shaved to raise cash for charity.

Chris Quinton, who works at the Asda store in Burnley, decided to lose his locks along with three colleagues to support his mum and the Tickled Pink campaign.

Chris's mum Gillian, who also works at the store, is off work because of her illness.

The 47-year-old was diagnosed last year with the disease and is currently going through the first stage of chemotherapy.

She is likely to be off work for another 12 to 18 months.

Chris, 22, who lives with his mum in Harle Syke, Burnley, said: "This has obviously become a cause that is very close to home because of my mum.

"I knew people had done things like this before for charity so I just asked some of the lads if they would be willing to do it and they were.

"Everyone has been very supportive and hopefully we have raised a decent amount for charity."

Staff from Diva's hair salon, Rosegrove Lane, took time out to carry out the head shave.
