BACUP police inspector Dave Shepherd is leaving the Valley after more than four years to take up a new post in Burnley.
Insp Shepherd, who has been in charge of policing across Rossendale East, said he would be sad to leave but was looking forward to the challenges of his new job as inspector in charge of custody and offender management.
"Rossendale is a terrific place to work, with the vast majority of local individuals and organisations all keen to assist the police and play their part in helping to keep crime and disorder levels low," he said.
"For example, we've got some very successful Neighbourhood Watch and a very strong pub watch scheme. We've also got some excellent partnership initiatives running like the Vulnerable Vehicle Scheme involving Parkwise."
Insp Shepherd will be succeeded by Insp Neil Wilkinson, who has worked in Darwen, Accrington, Great Harwood, Blackburn and Clitheroe during his 25 years in the force.
