POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was attacked and had his wallet stolen while on his way home.

The 18-year-old youth was set upon as he walked near to Victoria Park in Carr Road, Nelson.

Police said the attack had left the victim shaken but the teenager was not badly hurt in the incident.

They have launched an investigation and released a description of the gang.There were three attackers involved, described as white, 20 to 21 years of age, 5ft 8in tall, stocky build with short hair. One attacker was wearing a white and blue jumper.

Det Insp Dave Groombridge, who is leading the investigation, said: "The teenager was walking home when he was set upon by three males and had his wallet stolen.

"He was not badly hurt in the incident but it did leave him quite shaken up.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident or know who these men are to get in touch with us."

The incident took place at 10.45pm on Monday April 9 but police have only just released full details of what happened.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Nelson CID on 01282 472645.
