A REDEDICATION ceremony will take place for Darwen's recently repaired Boer War memorial.
The lion in Belgrave Square had its leg smashed by yobs in August but Jack Crewdson, 68, of Tockholes repaired and restored the entire lion.
Now it is back in place, the Darwen branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a rededication ceremony on May 6 from 3.30pm with the Salvation Army band which will play a hymn and the national anthem.
A service will be given by the Rev Andrew Holliday, of St Peter's C of E Church.
The lion commemorates those who fought in the 1899 to 1902 war.
