Having previously toured with her dad Kevin "Bloody" Wilson, Australia's outrageous - and saucily named - comedian Jenny Talia has been let loose on her own. We spoke to her ahead of her show in Burnley on April 29.

JUST trying to get through to Jenny Talia is a complicated business.

Having dialled her number in Chicago, an electronic voice proceeds to interrogate me, asks me my name, who I want to speak to and who I work for.

"Aw mate, I'm so sorry about all this," says Jenny, when I get through the robot security, "We can't get rid of the thing."

I wondered whether she might have gone all Hollywood and that the security was just part of her new life, now she's got her own UK tour doing stand-up and singing her own comedy songs "I think I can safely say I'm the most unlikely Hollywood girl in the world," she replied with one of the raucous laughs that would punctuate our conversation.

Jenny will be coming to Burnley Mechanics as part of her solo tour "It looks as though the apprenticeship is over," she laughed, referring to her previous visits to the UK in which she appeared with her father Kevin Wilson. "Either that or dad's had a gutful of me and can't face another tour."

Considering that dad is actually with her, downstairs babysitting as we speak, that sounds unlikely.

"I just hope he isn't teaching them words they're not supposed to know," she laughed.

Jenny's whole family will be accompanying her on her UK tour to share in the experience.

"I love coming to England," she said. "The audiences are up for a laugh and know how to have fun like they do in Australia."

Jenny's shows are not for the faint hearted. She makes me laugh a lot during the course of the interview but I couldn't possibly repeat a lot of what we discuss.

"I think most people know what they're going to get with me," she said.

"I do offer a woman's perspective on things but I'm often at the centre of my own jokes.

"When I'm doing a show I can see the women in the audience thinking so it's not just me who has noticed that', which is great."

With songs covering topics including David Beckham, George Bush and, of course, sex, Jenny's audience are in for two hours with a difference.

"On this tour I will be bringing out some of the songs from my albums," she said, "and some new material as well.

"I have done solo tours elsewhere but it will be a different experience for me to tour the UK on my own."
