RESIDENTS are being warned to be security concious after four burglaries in the Hoghton area over the Easter weekend.
The first incident took place in Central Avenue between 11.40pm on Friday and 7.30am on Saturday A burglar broke in through a conservatory door and stolen a handbag from the kitchen.
The second incident took place in Hayfield Close the same night., when a burglar stole £15.
A house in Knowsley Drive was also burgled while the occupants were on holiday between 9am on Sunday and 12.15pm on Monday when burglars smashed a conservatory window before making off with a plasma screen TV and a computer.
A semi-detached bungalow on Rhodesway was also targeted whilst the owner was away over the weekend. The offender is believed to have been disturbed as nothing was taken. Detective Sergeant John Cass commented," Although three out of the four properties burgled were secure and the offenders forced their entry, I would strongly urge members of the public not to be complacent with household security. "
