A TRIO of East Lancashire residents have been selected to take the helm of a national online community focused on retirement.

Clare Mahood and Anthony Black from Rossendale and Rebecca Harrison from Burnley are in charge of Retiresavvy, which launched on April 21.

It has been created by Skipton Building Society as a place where those in, and approaching retirement, can turn to for support, offering information, real-life case studies, and peer-to-peer support and discussion.

Mrs Mahood will take the post of Retiresavvy senior manager, heading up the new editorial team behind the site, while Mrs Harrison’s role as digital marketing manager will see her driving to promote the site to the public.

Mr Black, a retired deputy head teacher, is among a hand-picked team of retiree bloggers who have been recruited to share their stories of life after work.

Mrs Mahood, who has moved roles within Skipton Building Society to head up Retiresavvy, said: “I’m delighted to be working on retiresavvy.co.uk.

“I’m very proud of what the site does and what it has to offer and I hope that it will fast become a resource valued by many.

“The society is calling out for local contributors and I’d love Rossendale to be further represented with stories from people in our region.

“It’s fantastic to have Anthony on board and his story is really inspiring.”

Former Burnley St Hilda’s RC Girls High student Mrs Harrison said: “I’m really excited to be working on retiresavvy.co.uk, which is a unique resource, unlike anything else provided by our industry.

“It is very much a site driven by real people and I’ve already met some amazing retirees.

Mr Black, 60, said: “What I really like is that retiresavvvy is a site driven by its users and I urge people to get involved with it.”
