AN OFF-DUTY policeman driving home was confronted by another car coming towards him on the wrong side of the road.
Blackburn magistrates heard the officer was so concerned he followed the other vehicle.
He saw it swerving before pulling into a car park where the officer identified himself and detained Stephen Beckett Moore until uniformed officers arrived. A breathalyser showed he was three and a half times the legal limit.
Moore, 43, of Heys Close, Blackburn, admitted driving with excess alcohol. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, banned from driving for four years and must pay £145 costs.
