A WOMAN who says she dislikes running and never trains has completed her second marathon in a week and plans to travel to Berlin and New York to do more.

Laura Singleton, 32 from Billington, finished the London Marathon in under five hours just seven days after running in the Manchester Marathon, crossing the line in four hours and five minutes.

Laura has also done the Blackpool half-marathon this year has gained places in the Berlin event in September and will run in New York in November.

She has been raising money along the way for Get Kids Going, a child mobility charity.

She has also gained the support of staff and members at Oak Hill Academy gym in Whalley, who are also running a 500,000 metre row-a-thon over four days next month.

Laura, who is the mother of Reece, 12, Layton, 10, Jenna eight and Caitlin, seven says she keeps herself fit but never trains for the events.

She said: “I did the London Marathon for the first time last year and before that I had never run further than six miles.

“I don’t like running but I like the challenge and find myself signing up to do the marathons.

“I was a size 20 dress size six years ago and then I started walking everywhere and later joined Oak Hill gym.

“I was on a high after the Manchester event but my legs let me down a bit in London.”

Emma Dunkerley, operations manager at Oak Hill, said: “Laura is such a character at the gym and all the staff and members at Oak Hill are inspired by her.

“To do the marathons so close together is amazing.”

Staff and members will be covering 500,000 metres on a rowing machine in the gym reception in relay for four days from May 11 in aid of Laura’s cause.
