Trouble is an interestingly twisted pop song, starting out like a piano-led cocktail bar band but soon adding subtle, suspended guitar notes to the choruses.
The lyrics deal acerbically with some unnamed musician ("pop star" seems the wrong choice of words considering the namedrop for indie label stalwarts Cherry Red Records) in a way that is hard to follow yet emotive all the same.
And all of this with an insistent one-note piano groove supporting scattershot guitar noise as the singer pours out his sense of regret for whatever exactly has happened here.
It all makes for a great ride.
