THREE of Blackburn’s Parliamentary candidates answered questions on the national economy, the distribution of resources by the council and the town’s night-time economy at the Cathedral hustings.

An audience of 40 heard Labour’s Kate Hollern, Tory Bob Eastwood and Liberal Democrat Gordon Lishman in advance of May 7.

UKIP’s Dayle Taylor was unable to attend because of exams at the University of Chester.

Dean of Blackburn Christopher Armstrong, who chaired the debate, said: “There was a good, intelligent spread of questions and no blood on the carpet. I think those who attended heard enough to help them make up their minds on who to vote for.”
