A FUNDRAISING evening in aid of a woman who has been left blind and partially paralysed raised hundreds of pounds.

Steve Davis helped raise money for the Burnley woman last Thursday at Padiham Snooker Club.

People at the club got the chance to play against the snooker legend after bidding for a frame to raise money for Lorraine Milne, 43, of Rossetti Avenue.

Ms Milne lost consciousness as she was rushed to Burnley hospital on Christmas Eve following a stroke.

The mother-of-three was left blind and paralysed after doctors only gave a her a 50/50 chance of survival.

Club owner Paul Rinaldi said money is still coming in but he is hoping to raise hundreds to help with his sister-in-law's rehabilitation costs.

Brother-in-law Paul Rinaldi, said: "It was great.

"We don't know how much money we have raised yet but it should be about four or five hundered pounds.

Mr Rinaldi said: "It's going to go to my brother because he has not been able to work due to the illness and he has children to look after.

"Lorraine has good days and bad days.

"She is speaking and somedays she's alright.

"She can say certain words but it's not brilliant."

The evening, which atracted 90 people, inlcuded an auction with a caricature of Steve Davis selling for £60.
