A YOUNG actor is set to make his debut on a West End stage.

Cameron Rhodes, 17, from Waterfoot, has accepted a place with West End Stage theatre summer school for young performers aged eight to 21.

The teen, who is studying performing arts at Alder Grange Sixth Form College, was delighted to be able to achieve his dream of performing on a West End stage.

The teen, who trains at Rossendale Dance and Drama Centre four times a week, has been given funding from Alder Grange’s aspiration fund to allow him to spend the week in London, where he will perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre, home to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

Throughout the week, Cameron will join other students at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, one of the top drama schools in the UK where the likes of Ewan McGregor, Daniel Craig, and Orlando Bloom all trained.

He will be put through his paces in singing, dance and drama, as well as receiving specific industry based workshops, led by West End stars.

The students will also be taken to the hit musical Memphis, where they will also get the opportunity to question the cast during a private question and answer session.

Cameron said: “I am really pleased to get the place. I am looking forward to getting some great experience and working with other people who are interested in performing.

“ I want to be be a performer when I leave school - it is my dream and I am determined to make it.”
