A police chief been rewarded for designing a computer system which was used in the complex investigation into the Morecambe Bay disaster.
Det Supt Mick Gradwell, who works at Blackburn, has been given a national award -Innovation in Technology -- for his work on the database.
He devised "Evidention" to make the presentation of complicated evidence easier in court. It came after the complicated inquiry into the deaths of at least 21 Chinese cocklers at Morecambe Bay.
The award was given by the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers Equipment (APPSS) at a ceremony in Surrey.
Mr Gradwelld has been with Lancashire Constabulary for 27 years.
