BURNLEY councillors have agreed to spend £20,000 on a feasibility study into a proposed 'fashion tower' in the Weavers Triangle.
The council's Executive committee voted in principle to spend the money on the study which will look into the ideas put forward by entrepreneur and music mogul Anthony Wilson, of Livesey Associates, in its "Dreaming of Pennine Lancashire" report.
The tower has been proposed to celebrate the textile industry, but not to be a museum of fashion.
Councillor Martin Smith said: "For this to succeed, it is vital we get the right people on board."
The study will cost £65,000 and the rest of the money will come from Hurstwood Developments, Lancashire County Developments Ltd and the North West Development Agency.
