YET more Northern Soul action is coming to Blackburn.
The town’s ‘Empire this New Year at Ewood’ plays host to an eight-piece live band playing hits from its 1970’s heyday next month.
Bookings are now being taken for a two hour tribute show called, Baby I Need Your Lovin’ on Saturday January 10.

The Tamla Motown sound is synonymous with Lancashire where Northern Soul found its home in the 1970s. The recently-released film Northern Soul, starring Steve Coogan included scenes at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall.
The Northgate venue hosted an ‘all-nighter’ in September to mark its hosting of the first screening of the feature. The Empire Theatre concert aims to take the audience on a journey into Tamla Motown’s rich history, from Berry Gordy’s humble beginnings in 1959 Detroit and the early hits of the Four Tops, the Temptations to the label’s move to LA in 1972.
It also features hits of the label’s female stars, from the Supremes to Martha Reeves.
