Just last year the Waterford Street firm upgraded its sewing and cutting room equipment to the tune of £1.4 million and are now looking to offer position to six fresh faces. Bosses at Themis will not only be giving them general training, focused on the industry, but entering them on a 12-month programme specifically designed to suit Mackintosh’s needs.

Stephanie Coleman, Themis sales and recruitment manager, said: “These apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity for young people who are interested in fashion and textiles to secure a long-term future with a well-respected, high fashion clothing brand.”

The announcement comes shortly after New Call Telecom, also based in Nelson, confirmed that it was on the lookout for its own apprenticeship initiative, which has already boasted 30 graduates.

Nelson and Colne College have been heavily involved with the Lindred Road company.

Abdul Hafeez, programme leader, said: “added: “It is clear that they are fully supported throughout their training and that if they prove themselves, they are given permanent positions once they have completed their apprenticeship – a great outcome for the business and the apprentice too.”
