DARWEN’S first Oktoberfest took place in the form of a German-themed beer festival at The Old Function Rooms pub at the weekend.
There were five German beers on the bar at the pub in Watery Lane, as well as a host of bottled varieties from Friday to Sunday.
The pub was decked out in all things German and food such as sauerkraut and bratwurst was on offer.
Traditional Bavarian ‘umpah’ music was played while staff donned their dirndl skirts and lederhosen to make the weekend as authentic as possible.
Manager Siobhan Birtwistle said: “I just wanted to do something different.
“I am sure it was Darwen’s first Oktoberfest and it was a fantastic weekend.”
