BOSSES at North West Ambulance Service have raised concerns about the average age of staff within the non-urgent patient transport service in Lancashire.
The trust’s recent workforce report said: “The PTS workforce is traditionally older than in other service lines and it continues to be difficult to predict when staff may leave the service.
“Further work needs to be carried out in the PTS regions, in particular Lancashire, which has a higher than average older workforce.
“A review into what prompts people to retire and at what juncture they decide to retire, will provide the trust with more assurance regarding the planned backfill for those positions.”
