A 45-year-old woman spat in the face of a Darwen takeaway owner when he refused to serve her because she was being racially abusive.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Adele Done then went outside and ripped the aerial of Qmar Akhtar's car which was parked nearby.

Done, then of Darwen, now of Levenshulme, Manchester, admitted racially aggravated assault and criminal damage. She was bailed for a pre-sentence report.

Scott Ainge, prose-cuting, said Done was drunk when she went into the Big Bite on Bridge Street at about 10.30pm.

She started racially abusing members of staff and Mr Akhtar eventually asked her to leave and threatened to call the police.

"She returned about half an hour later using the same kind of language," said Mr Ainge. "At that point she spat in the proprietor's face before leaving the shop and attacking his car."

Imran Hussain, defending, said Done had been arguing with her ex-partner.

"She was upset and went to drown her sorrows in drink. She says the takeaway owner was abusive towards her but she accepts that what she did was wrong."
