A man has been jailed after admitting his tenth offence of driving while disqualified.

Sentencing Marban Qurban, 31, at Blackburn magistrates the chairman said he seemed to think he had a "divine right" to get behind the wheel whenever he wanted to go anywhere.

The chairman said: "The time has come when that attitude is going to get you into custody."

Qurban, of Audley Range, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance, obstructing a police officer by giving a false name and failing to surrender to bail.

He was sentenced to 90 days for those offences and another 24 to run consecutively for non-payment of fines.

Rachel Adamson, defending, said Qurban had failed to attend court in December because he had the chance to travel to Scotland and re-establish contact with his daughter who he hadn't seen for a number of years.
