The disgraceful antics of a manager and rowdy fans ruined what should have been a memorable occasion for a bunch of young footballers.

Moston Brook from Manchester may have lifted the trophy but, ultimately, the victory was soured by the behaviour of their manager, assistant and followers.

In astonishing scenes at the County Ground, Leyland, Moston manager, Michelle Woodall, and her assistant embarassed themselves and shamed their players.

It all happened during a controversial penalty shoot-out at the end of what had been a thrilling match.

With the sides tied at 2-2 after normal and extra time, the shoot-out was finely poised when trouble flared after Knuzden's second spot kick was ordered to be retaken.

Marcus Carver blasted his shot over the bar but the referee rightly but bravely ordered the kick to be retaken after he adjudged Moston keeper, Alex Blood, had moved off his line.

The keeper, who was superb throughout the match, let his feelings known to the referee and was sent off.

It triggered terrible scenes as first the Moston assistant marched on to the pitch to remonstrate with the referee while Woodall bawled at her players to leave the pitch.

When they decided they wanted to continue to play, she refused to hand over the gloves to stand-in keeper, Thomas Ross. The pair had to be man-handled off the pitch.

All the while, the Moston fans who had congregated behind the goal did their best to put the Knuzden players off who didn't score another penalty.

Knuzden manager, Derek Slater, said: "If Moston wanted the Trophy so much then they are welcome to it.

"But the way the manager and supporters acted was disgraceful.

"It is up to the LFA to decide if they want a team like that representing them in a national competition."
