A MAN has been fined after rubbish from his workplace was found tipped on the street.

Talat Mahmood, 25, of Blackburn Road, Accrington, was found guilty by Hyndburn magistrates and fined £200 and ordered to pay £250 clean up costs.

He was caught after a council cleaner reported waste at Park Crescent, which was then traced back to King's Computers, Blackburn Road.

Mahmood, who works at the shop, told the court that he had paid someone £60 to remove the rubbish but that person could not be traced.

Coun Peter Clarke, who has a responsibility for environment issues welcomed the conviction.

He said: "I've said this again and again - it is not good enough to pay someone to get rid of your waste and think that is the end of the matter.

"People must make sure they are using a registered carrier, or they will face court and a fine if the rubbish is later found to be dumped illegally."
