A TEENAGER was sexually assaulted during a trip to the cinema, police said.

The man, believed to be in his mid 20s, approached the 19-year-old girl at a screening of a horror film at The Vue Cinema in Blackburn, detectives said.

Officers said he touched her breasts, put his hands on her upper thighs and kissed her during the film.

The man has been described as Asian, around six foot tall, of muscular build and had some facial hair.

The police has said that there is no indication that the two knew each other.

After the film, the teenager left the cinema and contacted the police.

Det Con Steve Russell of Blackburn CID said: “The alleged victim told the man to stop throughout the film but she said that he declined to do so.”

Detectives investigating the offence have recovered CCTV of a man they wish to speak with in relation to the incident and they are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Det Sgt Eric Halford of Blackburn CID said: “The investigation is currently ongoing and we are keen to speak to the man captured on CCTV so that we can progress our inquiries.

“If anybody knows who this man is I would ask them to contact us or the man himself to get in touch directly.”

The incident happened on June 17 but officers have only just released details of the incident.
