THE sun is expected to be shining over Lancashire this weekend, and there is plenty going on outdoors to make the most of it.
And for the night owls, Rossendale’s ‘Relay for Life’, at Marl Pits Leisure Centre, in Rawtenstall, aims to raise thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK with its overnight track event, which starts on Saturday, at 11am.
As well as the relay, the event is a celebration of music, games, entertainment, and food.
Elsewhere, the Festival of Bowland 2014 continues with ‘Marvellous Meadows’.
Visitors are invited to join ecologists Geoff Morries and Jon Hickling, at 10.30am on Saturday, for a walk in the meadows of Slaidburn, and talks on wildflowers. The day will also teach walkers about the history of the meadows, and people are encouraged to take their own picnic lunch.

Blackburn’s King George’s Hall will host its latest legendary Soul Night on Saturday, and it is set to be one to remember as the event celebrates its 20th year. Tickets are £4 in advance.
A bungee jumping platform will be erected in Darwen Market Square on Saturday, and brave fundraisers will throw themselves from it for a chosen charity.
In Burnley, there will be a supper and raffle at Burnley Wood Community Centre’s celebration of live entertainment from7.30pm, on Saturday. Tickets are £5.
And Burnley Youth Theatre will perform its version of Hansel and Gretel, at the Arts Centre, in Queens Park Road, on Saturday, at 1pm.
