PLANS for a wind turbine in Green Haworth have been submitted to the council.
The 14.75-metre mast will be installed at Victoria Cottage, in Friar Hill, if planners give the go-ahead.
The Ministry of Defence has previously objected to plans for a similar turbine on the site, saying it could trick air defences into falsely detecting aircraft.
Those plans – for a 17.75-metre turbine – were scrapped in March after objections were also received from nearby residents concerned about the effects the turbine could have on their property, and the local area.
Lancashire County Council also said it was concerned about the impact on local wildlife, and asked for an ecological assessment to be carried out.
The latest plans, lodged by Preston-firm Sustainable Energy Systems, said the smaller turbine, which would generate enough energy for two homes, could solve the problems.
A statement read: “The application is being lodged on behalf of Brian Birtle, and will enable the applicant to reduce his carbon emissions, and energy bills, and to increase his self-sufficiency in terms of electricity production.
“This application seeks to address the concerns raised during the original planning application by reducing the height of the proposal, and by undertaking a site specific ecological assessment.”
The latest planning application will be scrutinised by planning officers at Hyndburn Borough Council.
