March 30: Ron Hill Accrington 10K. The race costs £8 for affiliated runners and £10 for non affiliated. The price to enter on the day is £12.

The popular race is a slightly undulating course through the town centre and along the old railway cycle path and starts at 10.30am with local charities benefiting from money raised.

April 1: Liver Hill Fell Race from Marl Pits Sports Centre in Rawtenstall.

The race begins at 6.45pm with all welcome and is organised by Accrington Road Runners.

The fell race is billed as perfect beginner fell race with just 780 feet of climbing in the five mile course, entry is free.

April 5: Pendle Fell Race. The event starts at 12.30pm from the Village Hall, Cross Lane in Barley and costs £4. For more details call 01282 618554.

April 6: Clitheroe Triathlon. The event begins at 8am from Ribblesdale Swimming Pool.

The event distances are 400m pool swim, 30k road cycle and 7k trail run.

The race limit is 750 people with an entry fee of £12.

April 13: The Garstang Gallop 10k starts at 11am from Garstang Sports & Social Club in Preston.

April 18: Caldervale Country 10 at Caldervale near Garstang. The 10-mile race starts at 1pm and the entry fee is £10. For details call 01772 723264.

May 4: The Great Hameldon Hill Fell Race. The race starts at 12noon from Peel Park Hotel in Accrington. This year’s running marks the 35th anniversary.
